This policy explains what personal data AYO News collects, why we collect it, and what rights you have over it. It reflects how the site actually operates today. If we add analytics, advertising or third-party embedding later, we will update this page before doing so.

Who is responsible for your data

For the purposes of UK and EU data protection law, AYO News is the data controller for personal data collected through this site. You can contact us about your data at [email protected] or by post at 20-22 Wenlock Road, London, N1 7GU.

What we collect

Server logs

Like almost all websites, our hosting infrastructure records technical information each time a page is requested. This includes your IP address, the date and time of the request, the page requested, your browser type and version, and the referring page. These logs exist for security, abuse prevention and diagnosing faults.

Comments

If you leave a comment, we collect the name and email address you enter in the comment form, the comment itself, and your IP address and browser user agent. This information is used to publish and moderate the comment and to reduce spam. Your email address is not published.

Email correspondence

If you email one of our published addresses, we hold that correspondence and the contact details within it so we can respond and keep a record of the exchange.

What we do not collect

We do not currently run analytics software, advertising tags, social media pixels or third-party tracking scripts on this site. We do not build advertising profiles, we do not sell personal data, and we do not use automated decision-making or profiling that produces legal or similarly significant effects.

Cookies

This site runs on WordPress and sets cookies only in limited circumstances. If you leave a comment, WordPress may set cookies storing the name, email address and website you entered, so you do not have to retype them next time. These last for up to one year and you can decline them by clearing or blocking cookies in your browser. If you log in to the site as a contributor or administrator, further cookies are set to manage your session.

No advertising or analytics cookies are set. Because we set no non-essential tracking cookies, you will not see a consent banner. If that changes, we will implement consent before any such cookies are set.

Why we are allowed to use it

Under UK and EU GDPR we rely on the following legal bases. For server logs and security, our legitimate interests in keeping the site available, secure and free of abuse. For comments, your consent, given by choosing to submit the form. For email correspondence, our legitimate interests in responding to enquiries, or the steps necessary to enter into a contract where your enquiry is commercial.

Where we rely on consent, you can withdraw it at any time. Withdrawal does not affect processing already carried out.

Who we share it with

We share personal data with our hosting provider, which processes it on our behalf in order to run the site, and with email service providers used to send and receive our published addresses. These act as processors under contract and may not use the data for their own purposes.

We may disclose information where we are legally required to, or where it is necessary to establish, exercise or defend legal claims.

International transfers

Where a provider processes data outside the UK or European Economic Area, we rely on an adequacy decision or on standard contractual clauses with appropriate safeguards.

How long we keep it

Server logs are retained for a short operational period, typically measured in weeks, then deleted or aggregated. Published comments and their associated data are retained while the comment remains published. Email correspondence is retained for as long as needed for the matter it concerns, and for any period required for legal or accounting purposes.

Your rights

You have the right to request access to the personal data we hold about you, to have inaccurate data corrected, to request erasure, to restrict or object to processing, and to receive certain data in a portable format. Where processing is based on consent, you may withdraw it.

To exercise any of these, write to [email protected]. We respond within one month, and will tell you if we need longer because a request is complex.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, you can complain to a supervisory authority. In the United Kingdom this is the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk. In the European Union it is the authority in your country of residence.

Children

AYO News is a business publication intended for professionals working in the gambling industry. It is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 16.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the site changes. Material changes will be reflected in the date at the top of this page, and where the change affects how we use personal data we will say so clearly rather than revising quietly.
